I'd never been to The Boiler Shop before, but it's a great space and a great location for the pop-up tea rooms and stalls which were part of the event. Only £3 in too and those who went on the Sunday definitely got value for money, as all the big cakes (like this Hobbit one and the Arc De Triomphe one) needed eating up!
The guys at Eat! Newcastle Gateshead put on a great festival and I really hope the success brings more events like this to the North East. Boasting some of the best names for tea and cake like Quilliam Bros (I visited recently and I massively recommend their Battenburg Tea, mmm) Tea Sutra which had some blossoming teas that I definitely need to check out soon, The *TeaShed, Fenwick, Ringtons and Brownie Bar (which has a stall in Eldon Square and you need to visit) there was so much on offer and really something for everyone.
I liked the idea behind the Alice In Wonderland inspired Mad Hendrick's Tea Party stall. Drinks were served in little hexagonal jars with a slice of lemon to compliment the Earl Grey Tonic.
With live music on all day, and lindy hop dance lessons featuring on both days, there was lots to see and do and for £3 it was a great afternoon out. I'll be keeping an eye out for another event like this and next time, if they're doing a similar cake map, I'll be there on the final day to help eat those remaining slices. Be rude not to, right?
